Moncton, Wednesday, November 6th, 2019 – Radio-Canada Acadie and the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital Foundation invite you to experience one of the greatest celebrations of the year! The 30th edition of Radio-Canada's Tree of Hope radiothon will air live from the CCNB in Dieppe on Friday, November 29th, from 9 am to 7 pm. It will be broadcast across Atlantic Canada.

The programming was unveiled tonight during the lighting of the Tree of Hope. It took place in the entrance of the Dr. Léon-Richard Oncology Centre. Anne-Marie Parenteau and Janic Godin will host the radiothon this year. They will make every effort to meet the $2 million target. As tradition has it, they promise us touching stories, inspiring testimonies, in addition to dozens of musical performances.

The artists who will perform include: Mal de trois Mâles (Marty B and Guy Godin), Joannie Benoit, Monique Poirier, Chloé Breault, Ronald Bourgeois, Raphaël Butler, Joey Robin Haché, Matt Boudreau. They will be accompanied by a house band led by Andrew Creeghan, piano, Sébastien Michaud, base, Jean Surette, drums and Denis Surette, guitar.

Nine people have agreed to co-chair this year’s campaign. Nine people who have lent their names, their faces and their energy to this cause over the past 30 years. They are: Gilles Beaulieu (founder of the Tree of Hope), Denis Losier, Dr. Nicole LeBlanc, Martin Latulippe, Monique Poirier, Luc LeBlanc, Robert Maillet, Joannie Benoit and Denis Larocque. They will be on hand throughout the day.

The CBC Information Morning team will kick off the event. From 6 am to 9 am, Jonna Brewer will host the radiothon live from the CBC studio at 165 Main Street in Moncton. The public is invited to join in for a morning full of music and inspiring stories. Musician Chris Colepaugh will be the house musician and offer some performances. You can listen to the live broadcast at 106.1 FM in Greater Moncton, 90.5 FM in Campbellton/DALHOUSIE, 97.9 FM in Bathurst/Miramichi and 105.7 FM in Sackville.

The funds raised by the 2019 campaign are based on the needs identified at the Dr.-Léon-Richard Oncology Center and in other Dumont UHC departments offering a continuum in oncology care, for example, the Mgr.-Henri-Cormier Lodge. Since 1989, the Tree of Hope campaign has resulted in major projects that have directly benefited New Brunswickers affected by cancer and their families.

Tune in on Friday, November 29th at CBC Radio One, between 6 and 9 am and ICI Radio-Canada Première, from 9 am to 7 pm. You can also listen to the live broadcast at Radio-Canada.ca and follow the day’s events on Facebook.com/iciacadie. The public is invited to drop by the CBC studio between 6 and 9 am. And, starting at 9 am at the CCNB campus in Dieppe.
