Moncton, Wednesday, November 7th, 2018 – Radio-Canada Acadie and the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital Foundation invite you to experience one of the greatest celebrations of the year! Radio-Canada's Tree of Hope radiothon will air live from the CCNB in Dieppe on Friday, November 30, from 9 am to 7 pm. It will be broadcast across the Atlantic Region on Radio-Canada Première.

Martine Blanchard and Janic Godin will host the radiothon this year. They will be assisted by the co-chairs of the Tree of Hope Campaign, Joannie Benoit and Denis Larocque. The programming was unveiled tonight during the Tree of Hope lighting ceremony that took place in the entrance of the Mgr. Henri-Cormier Lodge.

During this exciting event, health professionals, volunteers, patients and survivors will talk about the impact of the campaign on the quality of patient care. They will also talk about the latest developments in the area of research.

Artists have contributed to the success of the Tree of Hope campaign since the very beginning. They will also be there for this edition. They will include: Les Jeunes chanteurs d’Acadie, Les gars du Nord the choir from Balmoral, Les Gars du Nord, Salebarbes (with George Belliveau, Jean-François Breau, Kevin McIntyre, Jonathan Painchaud and Éloi Painchaud), Gabriel Robichaud, young story-teller Alexis Bourque, Christine Melanson, Simon Daniel, Troiselle, Thomé Young, Chloé Breault, Matt Boudreau, Jacques Surette and Izabelle. They will be accompanied by a house band led by Andrew Creeggan at the piano; Sébastien Michaud on base and Denis Surette on the guitar.

Ms. Colette Francoeur, the Regional Director of Radio-Canada in Acadie, says the whole team at Radio-Canada rallies to make the Radiothon a memorable event. "This is an activity that brings people together. It has a genuine impact on our communities. We are proud to take part in this event and we will offer once again a show that matches the level of commitment generated by the Tree of Hope Campaign."

Co-chair Denis Larocque says that the event is the high point of the fundraising campaign. The many volunteers have already been engaged for several months in the Tree of Hope campaign. "While $26 million have been raised since 1989, the needs are still as pressing as they were then. Donations remain as necessary today as they were at the outset," he added. "The funds raised help to improve patient care and advance research. Every act of generosity and solidarity also provides comfort to those who are battling the disease.

The CBC Information Morning team will kick off the event. From 6 am to 9 am, Jonna Brewer and Vanessa Blanch will host the radiothon live from the CBC studio at 165 Main Street in Moncton. The public is invited to join the hosts and the campaign co-chairs in the studio for a morning full of music and inspiring stories. Singer-songwriter Chloé Breault will perform, accompanied by musician Matt Boudreau. You can listen to the live broadcast at 106.1 FM in Greater Moncton, 90.5 FM in Campbellton/Dalhousie, 97.9 FM in Bathurst/Miramichi and 105.7 FM in Sackville.

The funds raised by the 2018 campaign will support projects in five major sectors: the Dr. Léon-Richard Oncology Centre; the Mgr. Henri-Cormier Lodge; satellite units in Northern New Brunswick; cancer research and healthy lifestyles.
